Covenant Medical Center CEO Spencer Maidlow is Named Michigan's Top Hospital and Patient Care Advocate for 2009

LANSING, Mich., June 24 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Covenant Medical Center Inc. chief executive officer Spencer Maidlow today was recognized as Michigan's top hospital and patient grassroots advocate at the Michigan Health & Hospital Association's (MHA) annual meeting.

Maidlow was honored as Michigan's 2009 Grassroots Champion, an award granted annually by the American Hospital Association (AHA), for "effectively delivering the hospital message to elected officials, broadening the base of community support for hospitals, and working tirelessly on behalf of patients, hospitals and health systems."

"Mr. Maidlow is more than a hospital grassroots advocacy champion," said MHA President Spencer Johnson. "Covenant Medical Center and its staff, led by Spencer Maidlow, are true professionals dedicated to delivering high-quality, cost-effective care to their community."

Johnson said that patients and their families across the Saginaw region and all of Michigan benefit from Covenant's advocacy efforts. He added that Maidlow continually builds strong relationships with state and federal officials and delivers straightforward and compelling messages on the importance of protecting critically needed Medicaid and Medicare funding.
