Courage Center Honored With KARE TV's 2008 Eleven Who Care Agency of Distinction
Date:6/19/2008

MINNEAPOLIS, June 19 /PRNewswire/ -- Minneapolis-based Courage Center is pleased to announce that KARE 11 TV has named the nonprofit its 2008 Eleven Who Care Agency of Distinction.

Over the years, Twin Cities based KARE TV's Eleven Who Care has recognized the outstanding efforts of 264 (275 including 2008) community volunteers. The story of each recipient is inspiring and amazing. Since the awards began, 12 Courage Center volunteers (including three pairs of volunteers) have been honored with Eleven Who Care awards. The Agency of Distinction was created in 1990 to highlight a Twin Cities nonprofit organization. The Agency of Distinction also receives the proceeds from the dinner and live telecast.

In the 25-year history of the Eleven Who Care awards, Courage Center has had more winners than any other nonprofit agency. Eleven Who Care honors the contributions of grassroots volunteers and promotes the spirit of volunteerism in our community. The honorees are selected by the Board of Governors in May and recognized during a live TV telecast in September. Nominations are accepted from anywhere in the KARE 11 viewing area.

The 25th Year of Eleven Who Care will host a 90-minute telecast on Wednesday, Sept. 10, 2008. In addition to recognizing the efforts of 11 new volunteers, KARE TV will also look back at the previous 25 years and the impact volunteerism has had on this community. We hope you tune in and help us celebrate this terrific community honor. If you're interested in supporting Courage Center by purchasing individual tickets or table sponsorships for the event, contact Marilyn Crawford in Courage Center's Development Department, at 763-520-0544.
