Date:3/20/2009

SANTA MONICA, Calif., March 20 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Cord Blood America, Inc., (OTC Bulletin Board: CBAI) (www.CordBlood-America.com), a cord blood stem cell storage company, has selected Somerville Associates, a 25 year-old public relations agency based in West Los Angeles as public relations counsel for Cord Blood America, Inc., according to Matthew Schissler, Founder, Chairman, and CEO of Cord Blood America. The agency will publicize Cord Blood America in consumer and business print media, as well as online and in electronic media. According to Schissler, the agency was appointed for its experience and accomplishments in feature story placement, publicity, and new media.

"We've got an exciting story to tell, and we're pleased that the selection process has produced a public relations team that can articulate our message to the media, the role that Cord Blood America -- www.CordBlood-America.com -- is playing in preserving umbilical cord blood for the exclusive future use of donating families," says Schissler, referring to the soaring growth in umbilical cord stem cell preservation. He adds that besides current uses, medical research is centering on treatments using umbilical cord stem cells to combat heart disease, Parkinson's disease, spinal cord injuries, sickle cell anemia, cancer and other diseases difficult to treat.

Among reported successes with umbilical stem cell therapy, the Official Journal of the American Academy of Pediatrics released the report, "First Report of Autologous Cord Blood Transplantation in the Treatment of a Child with Leukemia," in Pediatrics 2007; 119: 296-300 on January 3, 2007 (www.corcell.com/about/press_010307.html).

Somerville Associates has generated feature stories and columns for its clients in the Los Angeles Times; top city business journals, including Los Angeles Business Journal; and placements in the Wall Street Journal, New York Times, New York Daily News, New York Post, and Boston Globe, among many others.

Among the professional services clients that the agency has represented are a top Honolulu plastic surgeon, a well-known sports optometrist for collegiate and professional ball clubs, and intellectual property attorneys providing patent litigation of innovative medical processes.
