Second Cooper Clinic Offers "Gold Standard" Preventive Medical Exams; New

Women's Health Services and Breast Surgery, Dermatology Introduced

MCKINNEY, Texas, Oct. 18 /PRNewswire/ -- Signaling the next phase of growth at CooperLife, the unique health and wellness-focused residential community under development in McKinney, the Cooper Clinic at Craig Ranch is now open to the public. "Father of aerobics" Dr. Kenneth Cooper, who founded Cooper Clinic in 1970 in Dallas, now celebrates the renowned facility's first- ever expansion. Cooper Clinic is the "gold standard" in head-to-toe preventive medical exams, and introduces a broad range of women's health services and breast surgery, as well as new dermatology services.

"Preventive medical exams are the first step to living a long, healthy and happy life," says Dr. Kenneth Cooper, preventive medicine pioneer, and chairman and CEO, Cooper Aerobics Center. "Cooper Clinic's physicians provide an educational and motivational experience, and give safe, effective and realistic recommendations for long-lasting lifestyle changes. It's important to re-evaluate on a regular basis in order to monitor patients' progress and prevent further disease."

Nearly 40 years ago, Dr. Kenneth Cooper revolutionized the health and fitness movement by introducing a new word and concept -- aerobics -- to the world. His son, Dr. Tyler Cooper, is building upon his father's work with the expansion of Cooper Aerobics Center at Craig Ranch in McKinney, which opened last year. The addition of the new Cooper Clinic marks the next phase of the project's growth and is an integral piece in the five-star amenities available to CooperLife residents.

"I grew up living the 'Cooper life' and that philosophy led me to create CooperLife -- a health-focused residential community. It is for all ages and stages of life whether you are healthy and active or if you are in need of a community that removes the excuses to help you become more healthy and active," says Dr. Tyler Cooper, president of CooperLife and staff physician at Cooper Clinic in Dallas.

Future CooperLife residents will receive one Cooper Clinic comprehensive exam a year and access to a physician 24/7 as part of the extensive amenities package. The first townhomes are under construction with residents expected to move in early 2008.

Considered the "gold standard" in providing comprehensive physical exams, Cooper Clinic helps individuals and corporate clients increase their quality and longevity of life by preventing disease and providing a prescription of good health through aerobic exercise, proper diet and stress management. Patients experience a six-to-eight hour day and complete a variety of health screenings, extensive blood work, treadmill stress test, heart and body imaging, as well as other tests and exams based on age, gender, medical history and doctor recommendations. Each patient spends one to two hours with a physician, receives same-day results and a full written report.

For the first time, Cooper Clinic is expanding its women's health services by adding leading breast surgeon Dr. Gail Lebovic and preventive gynecologist Dr. David Rogers to its team. Women will benefit from the latest screening, diagnostic and treatment services including digital mammography, MRI scanning, breast and pelvic ultrasound, DEXA bone density testing, and minimally- invasive biopsies, plus aesthetic and reconstructive surgery.

"The access women have to the latest technology and information -- all in a single location -- helps them cope and feel more comfortable no matter what breast-related issue they are facing," says Dr. Lebovic, one of only a few oncoplastic surgeons in the world, who holds a number of new medical device patents including the MammoPad that makes mammography less painful for women, and has developed new breast surgical techniques. "Cooper Clinic at Craig Ranch is committed to the overall health of women by providing a full range of preventive and treatment services from annual exams to breast surgery, and I'm honored to be a part of it."

Another new item introduced at the new clinic is preventive dermatological services by Dr. Rick Wilson. Patients going through the comprehensive exam now have the benefit of a skin cancer screening. Dr. Wilson also offers a full range of dermatology services out of his Cooper Clinic office.
