"Those who provide health care to the elderly have unique challenges to provide a holistic approach to assessment and treatment" Cathy explains. "Knowledge of geriatric services and gerontology has an impact on health care providers as the scope of services available to older clients increases. Understanding their unique needs is dependent on gaining skills necessary to treat our aging population."

This webinar examines changes in the demographic makeup of our society as well as the cultural differences within our aging populations. The common misconceptions of aging are discussed and dispelled with actual evidence based data. Cathy moves on to describe physiological components of aging in detail to help students understand what changes occur as a result of aging and which are unique to the disease process. The information covered arms rehabilitation professional with the confidence to discuss the client with other members of the care team and with family members. This course will benefit professionals who treat the elderly in hospitals, nursing homes, assisted living or home care environments.
