Mr. Conrad joined the Rural/Metro Board of Directors in October 2005 and has served as a member of both the Audit and Compensation committees. He succeeds Mr. Cor Clement, who announced earlier this year he would retire from the Board of Directors at the end of June.

"I am honored to serve as Chairman of the Board of Rural/Metro Corporation and look forward to working with fellow Board members to enhance the Company's long-term investment value on behalf of our stockholders," Mr. Conrad said.
