Conrad A. Conrad Elected Chairman of the Board for Rural/Metro Corporation

SCOTTSDALE, Ariz., July 10 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- The Board of Directors of Rural/Metro Corporation (Nasdaq: RURL), a leading national provider of ambulance transportation and private fire protection services, announced today that Mr. Conrad A. Conrad has been elected Chairman of the Board.

Mr. Conrad joined the Rural/Metro Board of Directors in October 2005 and has served as a member of both the Audit and Compensation committees. He succeeds Mr. Cor Clement, who announced earlier this year he would retire from the Board of Directors at the end of June.

Mr. Conrad retired from the Scottsdale-based Dial Corporation in 2005, where he served as Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer. Prior to his service at Dial, Mr. Conrad held senior positions at Quaker State Corporation, a leading manufacturer of branded automotive consumer products and services. From 1990 to 1994, he served as Quaker State's President and Chief Operating Officer, and from 1994 to 1998, he served as Vice Chairman and Chief Financial Officer. He also was a member of Quaker State's Board of Directors from 1988 through 1998.
