Compressus Launches Partnerships With Two Avnet HealthPath(TM) Partners to Accelerate Access to Interoperability Solutions

SIS, Micro Solutions and Logicalis Initiate Collaborative Sales Agreements Designed to Facilitate Comprehensive Productivity Implementations and Access to Federal Healthcare IT Stimulus Funds

CHICAGO, April 8 /PRNewswire/ -- Compressus, a leader in interoperability of disparate healthcare IT systems, announced strategic partnerships with Avnet HealthPath(TM) reseller partners Software Information Systems (SIS) and Micro Solutions. These collaborative sales development and implementation deals are designed to accelerate access to comprehensive interoperability solutions and to potential federal healthcare IT stimulus funds. The announcement was made here at Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society (HIMSS) 2009 Annual Conference, April 4-8, 2009. Compressus last year announced a similar agreement with Logicalis, another Avnet HealthPath partner.

"To meet the technology needs of hospitals and medical facilities, it is critical not only to provide hardware infrastructure, but also the industry-specific applications doctors and administrators need for efficient, high-quality care," said David Hutchinson, director, Healthcare Solutions, Avnet Technology Solutions, Americas. "Today, doctors and administrators, whether they work at a large multi-center hospital network or a stand-alone imaging center, are looking for solutions that offer interoperability and productivity management. That is why we are pleased to bring interoperability leader Compressus together with Avnet partners SIS, Micro Solutions and Logicalis to share technology and expertise that facilitate rapid deployment of these critical solutions."

Avnet Technology Solutions, a global solutions distributor, created its HealthPath practice to provide in-depth sales support, comprehensive training and market-specific technology solutions. HealthPath helped participating partners achieve double-digit growth in sales to the healthcare technology market last year.

Headquartered in Lexington, Ky., SIS is an award-winning technology solutions provider that has been helping clients leverage technology for more than 25 years. SIS has been an IBM Premier Business Partner for more than a decade and has vast experience assisting customers with their hardware, software, technical service and consulting needs. Since 1986, Micro Solutions has been providing information systems design, hardware and software products, and industry-exclusive services for product implementation, technical assistance and ongoing support to a broad range of medium to large companies.

"We're pleased to work with Avnet and its HealthPath partners to help healthcare and imaging providers implement proven productivity and interoperability solutions," said Janine Broda, chief marketing officer for Compressus. "Given the current economic status, it is more critical than ever that providers have immediate access to cost-effective and comprehensive solutions, rather than having to cobble together one-off products and patches or hope that all-inclusive packages from mega-modality companies work as promised.

"It is this process of cobbling together proprietary systems that are not interoperable and do not communicate fully with each other that has created such complexities and inefficiencies in healthcare to begin with. By sharing sales leads, technology and implementation expertise with other Avnet HealthPath partners, we can help more providers realize greater efficiency and productivity, as well as maintain their high standards for quality patient care."

Proven to increase physician efficiency, reduce enterprise costs and improve patient safety, Compressus' MEDxConnect is the first and only software solution that indexes, integrates and routes all relevant patient medical information in real time. Focused exclusively on providing interoperability solutions, MEDxConnect was built from the ground up to address the need for connectivity across disparate HIS, RIS, PACS and related information systems, which enables organizations with disparate multi-vendor systems to function as one virtual enterprise.

Utilizing HL7, DICOM, and other standards, the system helps control the flow of images, reports, messages, standard patient demographics and other important data for diagnosis and treatment planning of a patient between otherwise independent and disparate systems. The integrated imaging and data management solution from Compressus is designed to support a facility's current and expanded workload and provide an infrastructure for sustained growth. Building the functionality required for remote connectivity, the system enables users to access diagnostic images and reports in the existing data stores at each facility, increasing the level of medical care while reducing the associated costs.
