Comprehensive Pharmacy Services Awarded $80 Million Dollar Pharmacy Services Contract for the State of Massachusetts

TEWKSBURY, Mass. and MEMPHIS, Tenn., March 3 /PRNewswire/ -- Comprehensive Pharmacy Services (CPS) with the Commonwealth of Massachusetts Department of Public Health (DPH)/State Office for Pharmacy Services (SOPS) are pleased to announce their new relationship as of February 2008. CPS will provide state- of-the-art pharmacy services for all SOPS customers within participating agencies in the Commonwealth. SOPS chose CPS to replace its current vendor due to a number of factors, including CPS' expertise in enhancing the quality of pharmacy operations, optimizing drug utilization for improved outcomes, and reducing overall operational costs.

As the nation's leading independent pharmacy services provider, CPS will enhance the consolidated pharmacy program for SOPS that will showcase its expertise in: operational, clinical, inventory, financial and overall program management. Additionally, CPS will provide operational oversight to manage the daily functions of the individual on-site pharmacies and the Central Distribution Center (i.e. drug procurement, order fulfillment). CPS will also ensure that the program will be applicable for all Commonwealth agencies, including acute pharmacy practices, behavioral health pharmacy practices, correctional pharmacy practices and outpatient pharmacy practices.
