Navy SEAL Fitness Challenge Media Day March 10

PHOENIX, March 5 /PRNewswire/ --

    WHAT:      The 2009 Navy SEAL Fitness Challenge is coming to Phoenix on
               March 14.

               A Media Day will be held Tuesday, March 10 at 10:00am or by

               Navy SEALs will demonstrate the demanding exercises required
               in their training and will be available for interviews to
               discuss fitness, health and wellness.

    SUMMARY:   Men and women ages 13 and up will have the unique opportunity
               of testing their personal fitness levels against members of
               the elite Navy SEAL community.

               The Navy SEAL Fitness Challenge consists of a 500-yard swim,
               push-ups, sit-ups, pull-ups and 1.5-mile run.  The Fitness
               Challenge is an athletic competition with an overriding goal
               of promoting physical fitness and increasing awareness of
               SEALs and Navy Special Warfare/Special Operations
               communities.  The Fitness Challenge is identical in nature to
               the Navy SEAL Physical Screening Test; the test SEAL
               candidates must pass in order to get into the rigorous
               training program.

               The Fitness Challenge kicked off in Boston in 2007 and
               continued in 2008 in San Antonio, Los Angeles, Dearborn, MI,
               Chicago, and Atlanta.

               The public Navy SEAL Fitness Challenge event will take place
               on Saturday, March 14 at ASU.  To learn more about the event

    ATTENTION  Members of the media are encouraged to participate --
    MEDIA:     seriously or for fun -- on Media Day March 10 or at the March
               14 event.

               The Phoenix Police Department will perform Physical Training
               (PT) with the SEALs on March 12 at 1:00pm and 2:30pm at the
               Phoenix Police Academy.

               The Phoenix Firefighters "challenged the SEALs" to
               participate in their PT training in full fire gear -- the
               SEALs accepted the challenge. This will occur on March 13 at
               8:00am and 9:30am at the Phoenix Fire Training Academy.
