CMC chose the SIS Solution because of its proven ability to impact financial, clinical and operational efficiencies in the surgery department. In addition to purchasing the AHA-endorsed SIS Surgical Scheduling and HFMA Peer Reviewed Rules-Based Charging, CMC will be among the first to implement SIS Trax, a new and fully integrated tissue tracking system offered by SIS. CMC Vice President of Information Systems, Joseph Fisne, said that the hospital's perioperative staff is looking forward to realizing tangible benefits with the SIS Solution.

"Management in the OR can't wait to start using SIS Analytics to pull actionable data for reporting on SCIP initiatives and other regulatory compliance issues," said Fisne. "From my perspective SIS' ability to integrate easily with legacy systems and show immediate value in the form of ROI was of critical importance."

SIS CEO Ed Daihl said that the tough economic landscape is causing many hospitals to seek technologies that display the capability to bring about a quick return on investment. Financial savings in the OR bring significant benefits for the entire hospital.

"On average, the perioperative department represents up to 70 percent of a hospital's total revenue and up to 35 percent of supply costs," said Daihl. "The importance of leveraging an automated OR system that can reduce lost charges and increase revenue through improved room and staff utilization can't be overstated. The SIS Solution has consistently proven its ability to show hospitals a full ROI within the first year."
