Combat Skin Cancer In Summer Months
Date:5/20/2013

Tampa Florida (PRWEB) May 20, 2013

In order to prepare for the long hot days of summer, the supplemental health and wellness team from DrSmartphoneMD launched an article series to raise awareness about skincare health and prevention of serious sunburns.

The series launched with the precautions that need to be taken in order to ensure that members of the DrSmartphoneMD program are not one of the 3.5 million cases of skin cancer diagnosed annually. The team explained that more than 90% of all skin cancer cases are associated with exposure to sunlight without taking proper precautions.

All tips shared in the DrSmartphoneMD articles regarding sunburn prevention are taken directly from tips provided by the Skin Cancer Foundation.

The DrSmartphoneMD team explained that a person planning a day at the beach will want to choose a water-resistant sunscreen with a SPF rating of 30 or more, in order to prevent sunburn. Following the suggested FDA guidelines, any water-resistant product must maintain its sun protection factor after more than thirty minutes of water immersion. To ensure a person gets the full protection from sunscreen, apply one ounce thirty minutes before sun exposure. Applying sunscreen thirty minutes before sun exposure will allow the ingredients to fully bind to the skin, and provide you a better chance to prevent sunburn.
