College Clinic Offers Traditional Chinese Medical Services to Public

PCU College Holistic Healing Centre seen as a resource for both students and community

Burnaby, BC (PRWEB) October 13, 2009 -- Interest in natural health and wellness has sparked an awareness of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) and acupuncture in Canada. For those looking for alternative and holistic health care treatments, PCU College of Holistic Medicine offers economical and practical services at the Holistic Healing Centre in Burnaby.

“A number of our patients live with chronic conditions and they come to the clinic because they want treatments that will restore them to wellness in a natural way,” says Dr. John Yang, PCU College Dean and Clinical Director. “We also see patients who want to complement other therapies with herbal formulas, acupuncture and massage.”

Dr. Yang, who also teaches in the school’s TCM programs, regularly treats patients in the centre. The clinic specializes in treating acute and chronic pain, gastrointestinal disorders, gynecological conditions, dermatological conditions and addiction problems. The clinic also offers specialized treatment programs for weight loss and stroke rehabilitation. Acupuncture, massage therapy and chiropractic services are available as well. The centre is home to one of the largest herbal apothecaries in Canada.

Located on the PCU College campus, the Holistic Healing Centre offers affordable TCM and alternative health treatments to the general public. All consultations, diagnoses and treatments are conducted by licensed TCM practitioners who are able to provide services in both Chinese and English languages.

The Holistic Healing Centre also serves as a training facility for PCU College interns. Under the supervision of professors and licensed TCM practitioners, interns have the opportunity to assess patients, diagnose conditions and administer treatments. The benefit of the onsite clinic to PCU students is immeasurable, according to Dr. Yang.

“The experience that students get during their internships greatly contributes to their success as practitioners,” he adds. “Interns have the opportunity to observe and work with licensed TCM practitioners and their patients. They grow under this guidance and learn to make a positive contribution to the Canadian health care system.”

The Holistic Healing Centre at PCU College offers TCM and alternative health services to the general public. The clinic is open Monday to Friday from 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM. New patients are welcome. More information is available at The college is currently accepting applications for all programs, as well.
