Award Recognizes Entrepreneurial Excellence in Real Estate and Construction Category

CHARLOTTE, N.C., June 22 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Cogdell Spencer Inc. (NYSE: CSA) announced today that its chief executive officer, Frank C. Spencer received the Ernst & Young Entrepreneur Of The Year(R) 2009 Award in the Real Estate and Construction category in the Carolinas. According to Ernst & Young LLP, the award recognizes outstanding entrepreneurs who are building and leading dynamic, growing businesses. Mr. Spencer was selected by an independent panel of judges, and the award was presented at a gala event at the Westin Charlotte on June 18, 2009.

The Entrepreneur of the Year award recognizes Mr. Spencer's role in the company's growth, including a successful initial public offering in 2005, acquisition of Marshall Erdman & Associates in 2008, and substantial growth and diversification. Cogdell Spencer ERDMAN(SM) was recently ranked by Modern Healthcare Magazine as the country's Number One Healthcare Design/Build company for the second consecutive year.
