Coca-Cola & the Center for Hispanic Leadership Aim to Build Momentum for Hispanic Professionals
Date:10/21/2013

Columbis, OH (PRWEB) October 21, 2013

In keeping with its company’s values of leadership, collaboration, and diversity, the Coca-Cola Company has committed to sponsoring the Ohio Hispanic Workforce and Economic Development Summit, presented by the Center for Hispanic Leadership (CHL) Ohio Chapter in partnership with the Ohio Commission on Hispanic/Latino Affairs, on November 7th in Columbus at the Hollywood Casino.

“Diversity provides the creativity and innovation,” says Coca-Cola’s Les Parsons, Central Region Vice-President of Product Supply, “essential to our economic well-being.”

Though the United States Hispanic-owned small businesses continue to outpace the growth of all other small businesses in the country by a ratio of 3 to 1, the growing number of Hispanic entrepreneurs and small business owners require leadership and operational training. Many Hispanic business owners are faced with the inability to consistently create and sustain relationships with Fortune 500 corporations, and therefore, are not at the forefront of supplier diversity programs. According to a 2012 survey conducted by McCombs School of Business, and the Kauffman Foundation, Hispanic entrepreneurs and business owners must learn how to become better leaders and, at the same time, better business operators in order to compete against non-Hispanic, mainstream businesses.

"It is extremely important for Hispanic businesses to grow and compete confidently in the marketplace," says Rafi Rodriguez, CHL Ohio Chapter President. "There are not enough culturally relevant educational and training resources to help Hispanics flourish as leaders, business owners, and supplier diversity partners."

The summit will provide the necessary professional tools and networking opportunities needed for Hispanics to better attain and sustain a momentum of success. Those attending the one-day summit will benefit from:

  • A highly interactive four-hour workshop that will help Hispanic entrepreneurs and business owners to become better leaders and business operators
  • Information, tips, tools and resources to engage their business and access state government and private sectors opportunities to profitably grow and compete
  • Access to CHL's online Certification Program: HispanicLeadershipAcademy.com
  • Networking with successful Hispanics from across the state of Ohio
