Cleveland Clinic Laboratories to provide testing and diagnostic services to ACL Laboratories
Date:7/9/2013

Wednesday, July 10, 2013, Cleveland: Cleveland Clinic Laboratories will now be the main provider of specialized testing and diagnostics services for ACL Laboratories, one of the largest hospital system laboratories in the United States.

As part of the relationship, Cleveland Clinic Laboratories will offer its highly specialized expertise in esoteric testing. ACL Laboratories and their two pathology groups will also be able to confer with Cleveland Clinic Laboratories pathologists for second opinions and subspecialty consultation leading to expert diagnosis.

"This agreement lays the foundation for improving patient care by optimizing lab diagnostics," said David Bosler, M.D., Head of Cleveland Clinic Laboratories. "It will help both organizations prepare for the ever-changing landscape of laboratory medicine, setting the stage for improved patient outcomes at the right cost."

Laboratory tests are a vital element of diagnosis, treatment planning and monitoring for every disease from the most common to the esoteric. Cleveland Clinic Laboratories offers more than 2,400 tests and provides high-quality, state-of-the-art diagnostic services to physicians and health care facilities across the country. Its professional staff includes more than 80 board-certified pathologists with expertise in anatomic, clinical and molecular pathology subspecialties.

ACL Laboratories, jointly operated by Wisconsin-based Aurora Health Care and Chicago-based Advocate Health Care, provides services to 26 hospitals, two central laboratories and more than 110 system clinic settings and patient service centers. In addition, ACL also provides laboratory services to more than 5,000 outreach clients.

"This partnership will strengthen our laboratories' commitment on delivering the best service and quality to our patients with a collaborative focus on the future in laboratory medicine," said ACL Laboratories' President Barbara Bigler.
