Clearly Contacts Announces Another Quarter Of Growth In The Economic Downturn

Clearly Contacts released their second quarter unaudited financial results today, for the quarter ending April 30, 2009. With consistent growth and increased orders, the Company is one of the rare businesses succeeding in the recession.

Vancouver, British Columbia (Vocus) June 11, 2009 -- Clearly Contacts released their second quarter unaudited financial results today, for the quarter ending April 30, 2009. With consistent growth and increased orders, the Company is one of the rare businesses succeeding in the recession.

"We are very happy to have fantastic customers who not only return time and time again, but they are recommending us to friends and family in numbers that we haven't seen before," explains Vice President of Corporate Development, Terry Vanderkruyk. "We offer contact lenses and eyeglasses online for half the price of retail stores and it's convenient to have them arrive at your door. People are really adopting our model."

With sales of $33.3 million in just three months, a 16% increase over last year at this time, it is clear that consumers are switching to the online retailer in favour of lower prices and fast convenient service found in E-Commerce. Clearly Contacts seems to not only be resilient during the economic rough patch, but is benefiting from tightened consumer budgets as well.

"The added pressure on consumers to really watch what they are spending and to look for deals is causing a large number of consumers to shop around online, sourcing the best deals and prices," adds Vanderkruyk. "In Canada, Clearly Contacts is the largest online retailer of vision care products and our Canadian customers are extremely loyal and appreciative of our service."            

Clearly Contacts shipped 624,000 orders in the first six months of the fiscal year and hopes to see the growth continue, even after the economy has recovered. Gaining market share in both the contact lens and eyeglasses markets, the future looks bright for the Internet retailer.

"Consumers are very smart, and they are becoming more web savvy and taking control of the market more than they ever have before. Clearly Contacts has always tried to listen to what our customers want and to deliver based on their needs," states Vanderkruyk.

With the launch of their new Virtual Mirror in February, Clearly Contacts is staying at the leading edge of technology to improve their customer experience. Making an eyeglasses decision online is made easier by uploading a photo and trying-on eyeglasses virtually.
