Clear Channel's “Penn Project” Features Dr. Barry Sears, Zone Diet Creator, About Obesity in America
Date:6/15/2010

Dr. Barry Sears, bestselling author of The Zone, told Clear Channel radio listeners on The Penn Project Show that, “The obesity crisis and related problems, such as increases in diabetes and heart disease, are mainly caused by diet-induced silent inflammation. America needs to reverse that pro-inflammatory trend with anti-inflammatory diets, such as the Zone Diet."

New Haven, CT (Vocus) June 15, 2010 -- “A majority of Americans are genetically predisposed to gain weight, Dr. Barry Sears, creator of the Zone Diet and bestselling author of The Zone, told Clear Channel Radio host Vinnie Penn on “The Penn Project,” broadcast on WELI AM 960.

Dr. Sears talked about the increase of obesity in America due to what he called, “The Perfect Nutritional Storm, resulting from government subsidies of corn and soybean crops, causing a glut of cheap refined carbohydrates and vegetable oils abundantly consumed in the American diet.”

Discussing his latest book, Toxic Fat, Dr. Sears said, “The obesity crisis and related problems, such as increases in diabetes and heart disease, are mainly caused by diet-induced silent inflammation. America needs to reverse that pro-inflammatory trend with anti-inflammatory diets, such as the Zone Diet."

He also discussed Zone foods he created, which are available online at www.ZoneDiet.com.

“Zone foods make it easy for people to prepare simple breakfasts, lunches and dinners that control hunger between meals. If you aren’t hungry, then cutting back on calories is easy,” he said.

Penn is a radio talk show host who previously co-hosted a radio show with Glenn Beck. Hi
