Clean Water Systems and AWWA Remind North Americans To Celebrate Drinking Water Week

Santa Cruz California (PRWEB) May 08, 2013

As Drinking Water Week (May 5 – 11) continues, Clean Water Systems & Stores Inc joins the American Water Works Association and water professionals across North America in highlighting the importance of getting to know your local water resources.

“We all agree that water is an essential element in our daily lives, but many of us can’t say for certain where our tap water comes from,” says AWWA Executive Director David LaFrance. “Drinking Water Week is a great opportunity to find out whether you’re drinking water from a lake, stream or centuries-old underground aquifer.”

Source water information is available from many places including the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s watershed tool and the Health Canada website. AWWA encourages customers to contact your local utilities to learn more about their water resources and the process that delivers water to homes and businesses in your community. Information about ground water quality and ways you can help protect local water sources from pollution may also be available.

For consumers who have their own private well or spring water sources, the USEPA reminds well owners to test their water regularly. The EPA has an excellent guide on well water that is available free of charge.

By learning more about local water sources, customers and water providers can work together to be sure they are available for generations to come.

About Drinking Water Week
For more than 35 years, AWWA and its members have celebrated Drinking Water Week – a unique opportunity for both water professionals and the communities they serve to join together to recognize the vital role water plays in our daily lives. Additional information about Drinking Water Week, including free materials for download, is available on the Drinking Water Week web page.

In 1988, the AWWA joined with the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), the League of Women Voters, and the Association of State Drinking Water Administrators to form a coalition to bring attention to the nation's drinking water supply. Today, thousands of citizens from across the United States and Canada celebrate National Drinking Water Week.

Founded in 1881, the American Water Works Association is an international, nonprofit, scientific and educational society committed to the safety and improvement of water quality and supply. Focusing its work in four strategic areas, Knowledge Creation and Exchange, Leadership and Advocacy, Member Engagement and Development, and Organizational Stewardship, AWWA unites the full spectrum of the water community to advance water management, education and science and to advocate for smart water policies.

Established in 1989, Clean Water Systems & Stores Inc specializes in water treatment for contaminated private well water systems in North America and has over 8000 customers in over 30 countries. The company provides environmentally-friendly easy-to-install water treatment systems and products including systems for removing iron, manganese, and no-salt water conditioners. The company’s founders have been members of the AWWA since 1990.
