Clean Water Systems & Stores Inc Introduces Expanded Line of Non-Electric Water Filtration Systems
Date:4/20/2013

Santa Cruz CA (PRWEB) April 20, 2013

In the developed world municipally treated water is generally very high quality and safe to drink. However, there are millions of Americans and others worldwide who do not have access to potable water and need to install their own water purification systems. Many consumers live in rural areas where power is not readily available or simply wish to reduce their use of energy.

According to UNICEF an estimated 783 million people worldwide do not have access to clean drinking water and nearly 4000 children die each day from unsafe water. The need for low-cost, easy-to-use water purification systems requiring no electric power is growing rapidly.

An estimated 15% of Americans, or about 45 million people, get their water from private ground water wells that are not subject to regulations from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (USEPA). Private ground water wells can often provide clean, safe, potable water. However, well water can also become contaminated, leading to disease and illness.

Water filtration systems remove contaminants and other undesirable substances from water such as sediment, iron, manganese, bacteria, color, chlorine and odors. In residential applications, these whole house water systems usually require electrical power to operate. For example many of these systems are self-cleaning and use water to backwash and clean the filter media or membrane. The control valves that are used to initiate and control the cleaning process require some electrical energy to operate automatically and operate timers. Non-electric systems require no power and have no timers but still function semi-automatically.

Clean Water Systems has been designing and selling non-electric water treatment systems since 1990 and has hundreds of sites worldwide using these systems. These treatment devices require no power to operate and employ ultra-filtration membranes and various filter media to remove a wide variety of contaminants.

The company has recently expanded its line of non-electric filter media systems to include ultra-filtration ("UF") membrane systems, acid neutralizers, carbon filters, manganese oxide iron filters, sand filters and ion-exchange resin treatment systems. The systems provide years of service without the need for electrical power.

The company also offers an expanded line of solar powered DC ozone generators, aeration systems and ultraviolet sterilizers.

Clean Water Systems & Stores Inc specializes in water treatment of contaminated well water and has over 8000 customers in over 40 countries. The company provides custom easy-to-install water treatment systems and products in a large variety of different types and configurations including systems for removing iron, manganese, sand, odors, bacteria, turbidity and sediment. The company custom engineers commercial and industrial reverse osmosis and ultra-filtration systems for bottling water plants and commercial applications.
