Classe Wines, an online retail boutique is offering exquisite special edition types of Burgundy wine that are available exclusively at its online store. The Burgundy region is known for its unusual terrain where the limestone bedrock gives the wines a unique mineral taste coupled with a light fruit flavor that gives these wines a smooth, creamy taste that you will not find anywhere else.
Burgundy, known in French as Bourgogne, is a region of France located to the southeast of Paris and to the north of Lyon. Only in Burgundy can you buy fine wine such as Chardonnay or Pinot Noir. The region has a long history of winemaking that is known to date back almost two thousand years. For centuries, inadequate infrastructure meant that the wines were difficult to ship to other regions, but as the roads in France improved the secret of Burgundy wine became known throughout France and around the world. Today, Burgundy wine is considered some of the most premium wine around the world due to longstanding tradition, and wine produced at Grand Cru is considered to be the best of Burgundy vine.
These three premier Burgundy offerings are from Domaine Albert Grivault Meursault, produced at a winery located in the village of Meursault along the slope of the Cote d’Or. The history of this winery dates back to 1879 when the former property owner Marquess de la Roche suddenly died without any heir to inherit the estate. During the same year, Albert Grivault, a prominent liqueur distiller at the time, makes a business move to acquire this property even though purchase of vineyard was a risky venture due to Phylloxera in vines during that time. Albert Grivault developed his own technique that was Phylloxera resistant rootstock. This technique enabled Albert chardonnay vines to thwart the bug blight.
Three exclusive editions of Domaine Albert Grivault are available from Classe Wines. The first is 2009 Domaine Albert Grivault 100% Chardonnay Premier Cru Perrieres - world's best white wine. This Burgundy white wine you can purchase for $69.95 per bottle. This wine has a fruity flavor that has inspirations of pear, peach, orange, and lemon, with a taste that is as creamy as it is fruity, with flavors that are enduring in the palate. It has a taste that some critics have said to be similar to that of liqueur, although with a mineral taste unique to the limestone terraces along the Cote d’Or where it is produced.
The 1999 production of Meursault by Albert Grivault is an Amber Chardonnay with aromas of delicate white fruits, honey, and nuts with a hint of pineapple, available for $74.95 per bottle. The third wine is the 2007 Albert Grivault, Meursault, Clos Des Perrieres, Premier Cru, a premium wine with a licorice or candied fruit taste and an aroma of dried flowers. It is believed that with additional age this wine’s aromas and flavors will only strengthen.
All of these Grivault wines are produced at locations that are Premier Cru. Premier Cru has the unique privilege of advertising themselves as such on their bottles, but they must adhere to extremely strict regional standards to retain this distinction. Only two percent of all the wine produced in Burgundy can claim to be produced in Premier Cru.
Classewines.com is extremely pleased to offer these three premium Burgundy wines from France that are sure to delight even the most discerning connoisseurs of fine Burgundy wine.
