Medication Reminder System Customized by Users, Integrated with HealthVault
WALTHAM, Mass., Oct. 4 /PRNewswire/ -- Claricode announced today that it will use HealthVault, Microsoft Corp.'s newly launched consumer health platform, to create a medication reminder system called DoseSpot.
Targeted to parents, office workers, students, and caregivers, DoseSpot runs in the background of a Windows-based PC. Similar to a calendar reminder, DoseSpot notifies the user with a message that they can customize; for example "Have you taken your blood pressure medicine yet?" Or, perhaps, "Give Grandpa his sleep medicine."
Studies show that health care costs and hospitalizations drop dramatically when people follow their medication instructions. However, 50% of patients don't follow them, and the most common reason cited by patients is that they forgot.
"You may take medicine at the office and at home, so it is critical that each PC that you use is up to date with your current medication information" said Andrew Needleman, CEO of Claricode, "DoseSpot keeps each PC up-to-date by using HealthVault to store the data."
"DoseSpot will enhance the HealthVault platform and help us deliver on the promise of connecting and improving healthcare," Said Peter Neupert, Corporate Vice President for the Health Solutions Group at Microsoft. "DoseSpot provides consumers with the opportunity to collect, share and take action on their health data in a privacy- and security-enhanced setting."
"By building on Microsoft HealthVault, we feel confident that DoseSpot will provide consumers with enhanced functionality and significant value." said Needleman. "We're looking forward to continuing our strategic relationship with Microsoft."
