Claim Filed Against the Company and Nine Other Defendants in the Haifa Magistrates Court

HAIFA, Israel, Sept. 2 /PRNewswire/ -- Oil Refineries Ltd. (TASE: ORL) (the "Company" or "ORL"), Israel's largest oil refiner, announced today that it has received a claim (the "Claim"), filed with the Haifa District Court by 17 soldiers and fighters in various IDF units, against the Company and nine other defendants. The Claim was filed regarding cancer and other diseases, which the plaintiffs allege they contracted due to their being in the Kishon River during the course of their military service, at different periods, from the 1950s through to the 1990s.

At this preliminary stage it can be noted that the claims, alleged in the Claim, as well as the legal and factual circumstances relating to the Claim as a whole, are similar to previous claims filed by previous groups of soldiers and fighters, as outlined in the Company's financial statements for 2006, as updated in the financial statements as of June 30, 2007. For additional information on this matter please refer to Note 16 B(2) of the Company's financial statements for the year ending December, 31, 2006 and to Note 6(2) of the Company's financial statements for the period ending June 30, 2007.
