Grant will Support Recently Launched Military Program
SHORT HILLS, N.J., May 21 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The Christopher & Dana Reeve Foundation, the national, non-profit organization dedicated to finding cures and treatments for spinal cord injuries and improving the lives of people living with paralysis, announced today it has received a gift of $25,000 from TD Bank's charitable giving arm, the TD Charitable Foundation. The donation will support the Reeve Foundation's recently launched military program.
"We are extremely appreciative of TD Bank's generosity. Through their gift, we will grow our military program, enabling us to continue to reach out to military and government organizations and hospitals to raise awareness of spinal cord and brain injuries," said Peter T. Wilderotter, president and CEO of the Reeve Foundation. "The goal of our military program is to support service members and veterans, whether their injuries occurred in combat, support positions, training, or here at home. They deserve our help and we are thrilled that TD Bank has partnered with us in this endeavor."
"We are proud to support the Reeve Foundation's new military program," said Nicholas Miceli, market president, TD Bank. "TD Bank is committed to partnering with organizations who are dedicated to improving the quality of life for those who live and work in the communities we serve, and this program does just that by helping service members with mobility impairments from spinal cord or traumatic brain injury understand their options, make informed treatment decisions, access state-of-the-science rehabilitation, and calm the chaos and distress of paralysis."
A staunch commitment to active involvement in the local community is a vital element of the TD Bank philosophy. TD Bank provides financial and other support to educational, community, human service, arts, and health-related programs, many of which focus on improving the welfare of children and families.
The Reeve Foundation is currently working with a variety of military and veteran-focused organizations to apply the best resources and expertise to care and recovery. "Through our Paralysis Resource Center, we offer one-on-one assistance to injured service members and continue to work on many fronts to improve medical outcomes and maximize quality of life for those living with paralysis," concluded Wilderotter.
