ChopChop Kids and The New Balance Foundation Team Up for Sustained Support in Fighting Childhood Obesity
Date:9/27/2013

Watertown, MA (PRWEB) September 27, 2013

ChopChop Kids, the non-profit behind ChopChop: The Fun Cooking Magazine for Families, announced today that Boston-based New Balance Foundation has generously awarded the innovative publisher $750,000 over the next two years to expand its ability to inspire and teach school-aged kids to cook real food with their families. The grant is part of New Balance Foundation’s long-term commitment to childhood obesity prevention and will enable more kids nationwide to receive the non-profit magazine that offers nutritious recipes, fun food trivia and engages kids in cooking to empower them to take charge of their health.

“We are thrilled to continue working with the New Balance Foundation as our leading funder,” said Sally Sampson, ChopChop Founder and President. “The New Balance Foundation recognizes the importance of affecting societal change and has been instrumental to ChopChop’s success. New Balance’s generous commitment will help us reach more children nationwide and throughout communities in need.”

Endorsed by the American Academy of Pediatrics and named Publication of the Year by the James Beard Foundation, ChopChop Magazine offers nutritious, great-tasting, ethnically diverse and inexpensive recipes, as well as interesting and little-known food facts, games and Q and As. Since its launch, ChopChop has reached more than two million families and is available in both English and Spanish. The magazine is distributed to children and families via doctors, hospitals, and youth-based community organizations, as well as through schools, after-school programs, food banks, farmers’ markets, grocery stores and individual subscriptions.

“The New Balance Foundation is proud to continue our support of ChopChop – a positive and innovative tool for bringing a healthy message to parents and kids across the country,” said Anne Davis, Managing Trustee, New Balance Foundation.

Through its partnership with the New Balance Foundation, ChopChop will continue to incorporate fitness-themed content, inspiring kids to participate in fun activities and healthful recipes for young athletes. The grant will continue to help support ChopChop’s distribution to neighborhood health centers and afterschool programs in underserved communities.
