China Nepstar Chain Drugstore Organizing An Earthquake Relief Program

SHENZHEN, China, May 14 /Xinhua-PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- China Nepstar Chain Drugstore Ltd. (NYSE: NPD) (''China Nepstar'' or the ''Company''), the largest drugstore chain in China based on the number of directly operated stores, today announced it is working with the Shenzhen Charity Federation to organize a program to provide relief for the victims of the recent earthquake in Sichuan province, China. Specifically, the program is designed to encourage the Company's employees to donate money and customers to donate their points earned in the Nepstar Loyalty Scheme. Nepstar will use the money and points donated to provide antibiotics and other pharmaceutical products for the earthquake relief efforts.
China Nepstar has 65 stores in Chengdu, the capital city of Sichuan province, out of more than 2,002 stores nationwide in China. All of these 65 stores were closed shortly after the earthquake, which took place around 2:30 pm Beijing time on May 12, 2008, and a majority of these stores remained closed on May 13 and May 14, due to earthquake aftershock warnings issued by the government. The stores will reopen as soon as the crisis has been overcome. The earthquake in Sichuan did not affect any other China Nepstar stores.
