China Medical Technologies to Announce Financial Results for the Third Fiscal Quarter Ended December 31, 2008 on March 2, 2009

BEIJING, Feb. 10 /PRNewswire-Asia-FirstCall/ -- China Medical Technologies, Inc. (the ''Company'') (Nasdaq: CMED), a leading China-based medical device company that develops, manufactures and markets advanced in-vitro diagnostic products, today announced that it will report its unaudited financial results for the third fiscal quarter ended December 31, 2008 (''3Q FY2008'') before the U.S. market opens on March 2, 2009. The Company's fiscal year ends on March 31, 2009 (''FY2008'').

Due to the sale of the business of the High Intensity Focused Ultrasound tumor therapy system (the ''HIFU Business'') in December 2008, the Company is required to report the HIFU Business as discontinued operations under United States Generally Accepted Accounting Principles. As a result, the Company requires additional time to report the results of the operations of the HIFU Business as discontinued operations in the Company's consolidated income statements for the seven quarters ended December 31, 2008 and for the fiscal year ended March 31, 2008 (''FY2007''). The Company will present these consolidated income statements in the upcoming earnings release for 3Q FY2008 on March 2, 2009.

The Company's CEO, Mr. Xiaodong Wu, CFO, Mr. Sam Tsang and CTO, Dr. Zhong Chen will host an earnings conference call at 8:00 a.m., Eastern Time on March 2, 2009 (9:00 p.m. Beijing/Hong Kong time).
