the UT School of Public Health. In 2006, she received the
Prevention Science Award at the Society for Prevention Research
and in 2005, was recognized as one of the 100 Most-Cited
Researchers in Tobacco-Related Research from the journal Tobacco
Control. Dr. Perry is a member of the Scientific Advisory Board
for Communities That Care, University of Washington. Her current
research involves obesity and tobacco use prevention in India,
as well as a longitudinal study of teen tobacco use related to
state tobacco education funding and policies. She is the Senior
Scientific Editor of the forthcoming (2010) Surgeon General's
Report on youth and tobacco use.
Dr. Guy S. Parcel, is Dean, M. David Low Chair in Public Health,
and John P. McGovern Professor in Health Promotion at The
University of Texas School of Public Health. He has been Dean
since 2005 and is the School's third Dean since the School was
established in 1969. Dr. Parcel has authored or co-authored over
200 scientific papers and book chapters over the past 35 years.
He has directed National Institutes of Health- and Centers for
Disease Control and Prevention (CDC)-funded research projects to
develop and evaluate programs to address sexual risk behavior in
adolescents, diet and physical activity in children, smoking
prevention in adolescents, and self-management of childhood
chronic diseases including asthma and cystic fibrosis.
