Chicago's Premier Sports and Fitness Auction is Back!

8th annual gala and auction November 16 to benefit Girls on the Run-Chicago

CHICAGO, Nov. 9 /PRNewswire/ -- Get ready to kayak, golf, run, bike, dine, relax, shop, travel and more with all the auction items offered for sale at this year's Go Girl Gala, taking place Friday November 16 at the Chicago Cultural Center. The annual event, which attracts more than 600 sports and fitness enthusiasts, features live music from the Underwater People, cocktails, hors d'oeuvres and plenty of fun--all for a great cause.

The Go Girl Gala benefits Girls on the Run(R) Chicago (GOTRC), an after- school program for young girls that uses the power of running to change the way girls see themselves and their opportunities. GOTRC's innovative physical activity program combines training for a 5K run/walk with life-changing lessons on topics such as leadership, community service, healthy eating and emotional health that inspire a lifetime of self-respect and healthy living.

"This is without a doubt the runners' social event of the year," said Dave Zimmer, owner of Fleet Feet Sports, a sponsor of the event. Other major event sponsors this year include Takeda Pharmaceuticals, Perkins Wolf McDonnell and Company LLC, Peak 6, Magellan Development, Next Generation Equity Research and Huron Consulting Group.

"This year's gala auction has items to entice everyone," said Kelly O'Brien, executive director of GORTC. "From the die hard sports fan to the adventure enthusiast, marathon runner, spa junkie or couples hoping to wine and dine, we've got it all -- and all to support the dreams and hard work of hundreds of wonderful young girls."

More than 130 items will be part of what has become known as Chicago's premier sports and fitness auction. Auction items this year include: autographed jerseys and other sports memorabilia from Ryne Sandberg, Greg Maddux, Bobby Jenks, Brian Urlacher, Devin Hester, Lance Armstrong and many more; race entries and triathlon coaching; pil
