Cheryl Bowker of Bowker Insurance Group Honored with Dick McKenna Good Hands Legacy Award
Date:5/25/2016

Cheryl Bowker of Bowker Insurance Group has been presented with one of the highest honors Allstate has to bestow: the Dick McKenna Good Hands Legacy Award. McKenna ran one of Allstate’s most successful agencies for 48 years, but it was his tireless commitment to others which continues to inspire all those who knew him. The award named for him is not given every year, but only when an agency owner or financial specialist meets McKenna’s high standards of extraordinary performance, through long-term service to customers, agency friends and the community, as well as by proving an inspiration to family, friends and peers.

During the awards ceremony, Tom Wilson, Chairman, President and CEO of Allstate, said of Bowker,” This award honors an agency owner who exemplifies extraordinary leadership; who cares more about others than themselves; a leader with the highest standards of performance.”

Bowker, who has run three successful agencies for over 35 years, has always operated as a servant-leader, who views her purpose as helping and enriching the lives of others. Whether a customer, business partner, employee, or local family or organization in need, Bowker works tirelessly to bring her bring her unique blend of compassion, service and leadership to everyone she meets, ensuring they are always in good hands. The agency’s ongoing community enrichment program is a splendid example of her commitment to the people of her community, through which Bowker’s team chooses a new worthwhile local organization, family or individual every two months to assist with campaigns of fundraising and other support.

The current initiative focuses on T.A.F.F.Y., a local grassroots organization which was founded in 2003 with a mission to improve the quality of life for Michigan families who are undergoing unusually difficult times. By providing compassionate financial assistance for a wide variety of needs, T.A.F.F.Y. has raised over $75,000 to help people with medical bills, food, living expenses, classroom supplies and more.

In addition to spearheading the fundraiser, and to further show their support, Bowker Insurance has pledged to donate $10 to T.A.F.F.Y. for every person recommended to the agency for a no-obligation quotation for the duration of the campaign. Readers wishing to view the cause, make a personal donation and/or recommend a friend may do so here. The agency has also dedicated a full page of their monthly magazine to featuring the cause.
