Charlie Sheen Admits: "Rehab Is Not For Me"
Date:6/29/2012

NY (PRWEB) June 29, 2012

After more than a year of what all seemed to think would end badly, Charlie Sheen in an exclusive Good Morning America interview, admitted he's off drugs but still drinks alcohol. Sheen also claims that he does not believe in rehab stating, 'I don't believe in rehab anymore. It's not for me. It's not for everyone. It's not a one-size-fits-all and it didn't fit me.''

Chairman of Saint Jude Retreats, Mark Scheeren was asked to comment about Sheen's chances of success back in this 2011 OK Magazine issue. Scheeren positively replied, "Charlie absolutely can get well at home--if that's what he wants to do." He additionally added, "Millions of people get over substance use issues on their own, without treatment. Contrary to popular belief, people doing it on their own is the most widely used method."

In cases such as Sheen's, the Saint Jude Program would suggest a home program for people choosing to work on their substance issues in the privacy of their own home. The founders of the Saint Jude Program have researched and studied traditional rehab since 1989 to perfect a program opposite of 12 step treatment methods that would be helpful and not counterproductive. The rehab industry today reinforces people’s feelings of powerlessness and lack of control through their disease methodology.

The biggest difference between Saint Jude Retreats and 12 step rehab is the supportive environment. When other 12 step rehabs said that Charlie Sheen could never get clean and was "bound to fail"; Saint Jude's stood behind him and knew he had the innate power and ability to change. This belief and encouragement is given to every single guest that enters the program.

The Saint Jude Program is based on the concepts of freedom and choice and uses education and social tools to empower people, as well as provide motivation and self-confidence so they can overcome substance use problems. Unlike rehab the non-profit organization is the only non-diseased based program, supporting the idea that addictions are not a disease but rather a series of habits and choices. The organization has branched out into three different styles; residential retreat houses, a day program in New York City and a home program.

About Saint Jude Retreats: Saint Jude Retreats is a drug and alcohol program implementing proprietary methodology called Cognitive Behavioral EducationSM(CBE). The program is the only truly effective alternative to alcohol rehab and drug treatment centers in the United States. Saint Jude Retreats has been helping people overcome alcohol and substance use problems through their research-based program since opening its doors in 1992. The Saint Jude Retreats program is endorsed by internationally acclaimed professionals and addiction authors, such as Prof. Emeritus David Hanson, PhD; Prof. David Rudy, PhD; Dr. Joy Browne and the late Joseph Vacca, PhD, among others.
