Charity Raffle Offers Trip and Game Tickets to Soccer's Euro 2008 Quarterfinal
Date:4/23/2008

ack Diplomacy. Score For Peace uses sports played on a global scale as a means for promoting nonviolent interaction between peoples in conflict. The program arranges, sponsors and promotes international sports matches with ancillary conflict-resolution clinics and people-to-people programs to promote peace-building at all levels.

The third beneficiary of the raffle's proceeds is student scholarships at the Institute for Conflict Analysis and Resolution. As a part of George Mason University in Fairfax, VA, ICAR is committed to the research and development of best practices that interrupt the cycles of violence around the world. ICAR is a Commonwealth Center for Excellence and is recognized for its leadership in the field of conflict analysis and resolution.

"Mobilizing the passion for the global sport of soccer and the excitement of the Euro 2008 championship in the service of polio eradication and peace-building is a winning proposition," noted Lester Schoene, the Rotary Club of Annandale Director for Administration and raffle coordinator. "In fact, it's a win for everyone -- soccer lovers, the beneficiaries of this raffle and the world at large."
