Chairman Al Brandel of Lions Clubs International Foundation to Appear in Washington DC's National Memorial Day Parade

Immediate Past President Brandel shares float with WWII veterans

(PRWEB) May 28, 2010 -- Al Brandel, Chairman of Lions Clubs International Foundation (LCIF), will appear in Monday’s National Memorial Day Parade along Constitution Avenue, NW in Washington DC. He will share the float with World War II veterans who are Lions Clubs members.

One of the WWII veterans on the float will be his father, Peter Brandel, who served in Japan and the northern Pacific theatre.

“These WWII veterans who so bravely defended our country have continued their service to their nation by serving their local communities through Lions Clubs,” said Brandel. “Their undying devotion is a testament to their generation and spirit. We are thankful for them and remember all of our fallen heroes.”

More than 100 Lions from Virginia, Maryland, Delaware and Washington DC will march in this year’s Day parade with their signature purple club banners.

During the Parade, Lions club members will collect used eyeglasses to recycle and redistribute to those in need. The Lions Community Outreach Foundation bus located at seventh and Constitution Avenue NW during the parade will also be collecting eyeglasses.
