Centice Corporation Enhances the PASS Rx System with its Version 3.0 Software Update
Date:2/1/2010

Centice Corporation, a pioneer in drug verification and safety products, announced today that it has released a new version of its PASS Rx system.

Morrisville, NC (PRWEB) February 1, 2010 -- Centice Corporation, a pioneer in drug verification and safety products, announced today that it has released a new version of its PASS Rx system. PASS Rx scientifically verifies, within a closed pill vial, the majority of the oral solid medications to improve the dispense accuracy in pharmacies. PASS Rx is the most reliable solution to allow pharmacies to protect themselves and their patients.

According to a 2006 report from the Institute of Medicine, at least 1.5 million Americans are injured by medication errors every year, many due to the wrong drug or strength being dispensed. Another study states that about four drug or strength errors occur per day in a pharmacy with a daily volume of 250 prescriptions. Manual verification can be largely subjective; Centice can help.

The new enhancements in Version 3.0 include an increased database size to over two thousand unique medications, which equates to more than 20,000 NDCs. In addition, PASS Rx can now be used to perform accuracy scans for barcode-based verification of non-vial dispensed drugs. Combined, these enhancements enable PASS Rx to cover nearly 100% of the workflow in retail and hospital outpatient pharmacies.

After multiple customer focus groups were conducted, the new user interface was also improved to provide the pharmacist or technician with easy to understand results on the display. The user interface continues to provide Medi-Span® drug images and descriptions for the added value of visual verification.
