Center for Autism and Related Disorders & Chuck E. Cheese's Announce More Sensory Sensitive Sunday Locations
Date:5/2/2017

Center for Autism and Related Disorders (CARD) today announced the continuation of its Sensory Sensitive Sundays program, a collaboration with Chuck E. Cheese’s that provides children with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) and their families an opportunity to experience the fun of Chuck E. Cheese’s in an environment best suited for their needs. Sensory Sensitive Sundays will take place this Sunday, May 7, in Carson, CA; Phoenix, AZ; Paramus, NJ; Richmond, VA; and Dulles-Sterling, VA.

“Our partnership with Chuck E. Cheese's is an excellent fit for CARD, as we are always looking for new opportunities to provide children with special needs with new opportunities for them to explore and have fun,” said Doreen Granpeesheh, PhD, BCBA-D, CARD founder and CEO.

Offered two hours before the restaurant opens to the general public, the sensory-sensitive program provides the opportunity for families in the autism community to enjoy Chuck E. Cheese’s with smaller crowds, dimmed lighting, the show and music turned down or off, and limited appearances of costumed characters, all of which makes for an environment more suitable for children who face sensory challenges.

Sensory Sensitive Sundays will take place on the first Sunday of every month, beginning Sunday, May 7, from 9:00-11:00am. The events at the above-named locations are part of a series of partnerships between Chuck E. Cheese's and CARD across the country. A list including street addresses of the 350+ locations participating in the program can be found by visiting http://www.chuckecheese.com/sensory-sensitive-sundays.
