Cenegenics Reveals Ways Obama Can Cut Healthcare Costs, Saving Nation Billions

"For example, the frequency of diabetes is running 10% to 12% and rising. Diabetics have an increased incidence of stroke, heart disease, renal failure, nonhealing ulcers, amputations, peripheral neuropathy and other related issues requiring hospitalization. All that costs money. Cutting diabetes down to 6% via a preventive medical approach like Cenegenics uses would create astronomical healthcare savings and be in line with President Obama's initiative."

Thompson says it begins with the basics: Americans following the right diet and exercise and, if clinically indicated, optimizing diminished hormone levels since we lose 1% to 3% from age 30 onward which can cause our health to slowly and steadily deteriorate. The American Association of Clinical Endocrinologists says type 2 diabetics have significantly lower testosterone levels and should be screened.

Per Thompson, another reducing-cost-via-prevention example is bone density, a topic often ignored in men's health. Osteoporotic conditions in men and women lead to 1.5 million fractures annually, a multibillion-dollar business in orthopedic surgery and an expected $60 billion in healthcare costs by 2030. Whereas a Cenegenics-type proactive approach increases muscle mass, strength and bone density, which reduces fracture risk, decreases mortality rates and could cut a billion dollars a year off the healthcare tab.

The Cenegenics programs are centered on the synergy of low-glycemic nutrition, exercise, nutraceuticals and hormone optimization (when clinically indicated) for healthy aging. The science behind their medical specialty helps them identify and meet criteria placing patients in the lowest possible risk category for disease. As a result, Cenegenics patients reportedly prevent or delay the onset of age-related disease.

"The day of being able to retire at 65 is just about gone, " Thompson said. "I work with my patients to help them stay in
