Cellars Wine Club's latest article presents answers to a few common wine questions. These questions involve vineyard practices, wine production, and the bottling of fine wine. Because knowing what's in the wine glass is important, Cellars Wine Club feels duty bound to educate wine drinkers as well as possible, to enable full enjoyment of their wine club selections.
One of the questions answered in the article is “What does biodynamic mean?”
This, they explain, is more than just a fancy word on a wine label, saying, “Wines that are grown biodynamically are attended with an agricultural philosophy that came to prominence during the 20th century. The biodynamic process involves making sure that every aspect of the vineyard is coexisting in harmony. Biodynamic farmers make their own compost and study the stars and positions of the planet to maximize yield naturally and organically. This results in a wine that is closer to specimens that were available widely hundreds of years ago.”
Another question asked and answered in the article concerns standard bottle sizes. Cellars Wine Club shows that there are actually many bottle sizes. They range from the smallest, called Piccolo or Split, at 187.5 ml (1/4th a standard bottle) to the mighty Nebuchadnezzar that contains 15 liters (or about 20 normal bottles) of wine.
