Celebrity Chefs and America's Restaurants Cook for the Cure This Mother's Day
Date:5/8/2008

BENTON HARBOR, Mich., May 8 /PRNewswire/ -- A woman in the United States is diagnosed with breast cancer every three minutes, but finding breast cancer at an early stage greatly improves the chances of successful treatment. In honor of the most important woman in all our lives, our mothers, "Cook for the Cure(R), Presented by KitchenAid" is celebrating Mother's Day by involving the culinary community and cooking enthusiasts alike in the following ways:

As a part of its ongoing Cook for the Cure(R) fundraising partnership with Susan G. Komen for the Cure(R), KitchenAid worked with Gourmet magazine to rally a group of celebrity chefs and their moms around the cause. Lidia Bastianich, Mario Batali and Sara Moulton appear in the May issue of Gourmet to raise awareness and give credit to the women who inspired them: their mothers. All three chefs signed a pink KitchenAid(R) Artisan(R) Series Stand Mixer, which is being auctioned on http://www.CharityFolks.com/CookfortheCure through May 15. One hundred percent of the proceeds will benefit Komen for the Cure. To view the celebrity chef spread and see a behind-the-scenes video from the shoot, please visit http://www.CookfortheCure.com.

To show their support, select celebrity chefs and wait staff across the United States will wear pink "I cook for my mom" aprons to help raise breast cancer awareness from May 9 through May 11 (Mother's Day). Participating restaurants at the time of press include:

A.O.C. (Los Angeles, CA) Atlantic Grill (New York, NY)

Border Grill (Santa Monica, CA) Blue Fin (New York, NY)

Ciudad (Los Angeles, CA) Blue Water Grill (New Yo
