PHILADELPHIA, May 14 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- A panoply of notables including Mayor Michael Nutter, several legislators and other celebrated guests will join the Mental Health Association of Southeastern Pennsylvania (MHASP) to honor Mary Hurtig, who recently retired as MHASP's Director of Public Policy, at its ninth annual Bell of Hope Award Dinner on Thursday, May 15, 2008, 6:00 p.m. - 9:00 p.m., at the Sheraton Society Hill, 2nd and Walnut streets, Philadelphia.

Besides Mayor Nutter and other distinguished speakers (mentioned below), celebrating with 2008 Bell of Hope Award recipient Mary Hurtig will be Philadelphia City Council Member Marian Tasco and Pennsylvania State Representatives Kathy Manderino and Babette Josephs, along with other notable Philadelphians, including former City Council Member Happy Fernandez, President of the Moore College of Art and Design; distinguished attorney Herman Mattleman and 2007 Philadelphia Award recipient Marciene Mattleman; Shelly Yanoff, President of Public Citizens for Children and Youth; Dr. Aaron Beck, creator of Cognitive Therapy and founder of The Beck Institute for Cognitive Therapy and Research; journalist, broadcaster and author Carol Saline; and pioneering broadcast journalist Marciarose Shestack. "For the last two decades, Mary Hurtig has been a driving force in mental health systems transformation, and has worked tirelessly to improve the lives of people with mental illnesses," said MHASP Board Chair Denise Maida, Psy.D.

The evening will include chances to win various raffle items.
