Date:3/4/2013

Provo, Utah (PRWEB) March 04, 2013

Career Step, an online education company, is pleased to announce the launch of its ICD-10-CM and ICD-10-PCS code set training at the HIMSS13 Annual Conference & Exhibit. The courses are available through Career Step’s ICD-10 education offering, The ICD-10 Solution, developed in partnership with YES HIM Consulting, Inc., a firm specializing in ICD-10 preparation since 2009.

“As healthcare providers move through their ICD-10 transition plans, ICD-10 code set training is becoming top of mind for many,” said Career Step’s Vice President of Healthcare and Corporate Training Partnerships Mike Hodgson. “Our experts in adult education have worked closely with the coding experts from YES HIM Consulting, Inc. to create training programs designed to maximize coders’ learning and retention in preparation for the switch.”

Career Step’s code set courses teach the new concepts introduced by ICD-10 in a phased approach that begins at a very basic level and then works through intermediate exercises and advanced scenarios where coders can apply the new concepts and codes. To further encourage retention, practice exercises and a variety of visual and audio learning opportunities specifically designed for adult learners are included. Students will also have the opportunity to interact with AHIMA-certified instructors through instructional webinars.

The ICD-10-CM and ICD-10-PCS courses are part of the comprehensive education approach that Career Step and YES HIM Consulting, Inc. have taken with The ICD-10 Solution. These programs include assessments prior to training as well as biomedical sciences education. The assessments evaluate coders’ baseline knowledge levels prior to training and identify more advanced retraining needs. Biomedical sciences education in medical terminology, anatomy, pathophysiology, and pharmacology is conducted to ensure coders’ preparedness prior to code set trai
