CareSource, a nonprofit, Ohio-based health plan, is pleased to welcome Dr. David Kaelber, MD, Ph.D., MPH, to the CareSource Board of Trustees.
Dr. Kaelber, appointed to the CareSource Ohio Board of Trustees in May 2014, is a practicing internist, pediatrician and the Chief Medical Informatics Officer of The MetroHealth System, a large public health care system and academic medical center affiliated with Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, Ohio. He is also Director of MetroHealth’s Center for Clinical Informatics Research and Education, and of MetroHealth’s Clinical Informatics Fellowship program.
Dr. Kaelber joins the CareSource Ohio Board at a time of unprecedented growth for the company due in large part to health care reform and the launch of CareSource Just4Me on the Health Insurance Marketplace.
Under Dr. Kaelber’s leadership, MetroHealth recently became one of the first public hospitals in the nation to achieve Health Information Management Systems Society’s Stage 7 ambulatory setting.
His areas of interest and research include personal health records, electronic medical records, clinical decision support, telemedicine, the teaching of medical informatics to medical students and resident physicians, using electronic medical records for chronic disease detection and management, and other areas of clinical informatics, as well as research in med-peds. Additonally, he has more than 100 abstracts and publications.
“Dr. Kaelber will bring valuable practical and administrative health care experience to our Board and we look forward to his input,” Pam Morris, President and CEO, CareSource said.
