Free hypertension testing with proprietary ICG and education to those in need
SAN DIEGO, June 17 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- CardioDynamics (Nasdaq: CDIC), the innovator and leader of BioZ(R) Impedance Cardiography (ICG) technology, today announced it will participate in National Health Care Day of Service on Saturday, June 27, 2009, by providing free high blood pressure (also known as hypertension) testing utilizing its proprietary ICG technology.
CardioDynamics, in conjunction with the Association for Innovative Cardiovascular Advancements (AICA), La Maestra Family Clinic, and Neighborhood House Association (NHA), will participate in hypertension wellness screening clinics at two locations in the City of San Diego: La Maestra Family Clinic at 4185 Fairmont Avenue and Neighborhood House Association at 841 South 41st Street. Both areas have populations with the genetic propensity for heart disease. CDIC will have representatives on site equipped with its ICG BioZ Dx(R) monitors to provide free testing and offer educational materials about hypertension and the ICG test. Testing and education will be offered from 9:00 am to 12:00 pm. People suffering from high blood pressure, shortness of breath, heart failure, or who are taking cardiac drugs can benefit from the ICG test as it provides additional clinical information for physicians to make informed decisions about a patient's drug therapy.
"We selected these two San Diego neighborhoods to provide ICG testing to residents who may not otherwise have the opportunity to be tested," stated Rhonda F. Rhyne, President of CardioDynamics. "This innovative monitoring and education will provide these patients information they can share with their doctors in an effort to enhance the level of cardiovascular care they are receiving."
Michael K. Perry, CardioDynamics Chief Executive Officer, added, "We are actively engaged in national approaches to assist physicians in cardiac disease management and to escalate the use of BioZ(R) ICG technology to a cardiovascular standard of care. It is the company's hope through new educational and customer support opportunities that physicians, hospitals and medical schools will continue to avail themselves of this technology that elevates the standard of care received by every person dealing with high blood pressure, heart failure, or shortness of breath."

There are limited funds available through government and private sector sources for achieving this purpose. As such, the AICA will serve as the bridge. Our vision is to decrease time from bench to clinical application for innovative cardiovascular technologies. AICA... giving innovative technologies a fighting chance.
