Capital BlueCross Sponsors Healthy Community Pharmacy's Move to New Community-Focused Location in York

Community Pharmacy serving thousands of members of Healthy York Network re-opens in centrally located Family First Health Center; Members now have

access by public transportation

HARRISBURG, Pa., Nov. 10 /PRNewswire/ -- Last month, the Healthy Community Pharmacy celebrated its grand re-opening at 116 South George Street in York, a central, convenient location that will improve access to health care for thousands of local York residents who are part of the Healthy York Network program. The Pharmacy's successful move to its improved community-focused location was sponsored through a grant from Capital BlueCross. The Harrisburg based health insurer is partnering with WellSpan Health to support the mission of the Healthy York Network, which operates the Community Pharmacy for the benefit of the people of York County.

"Capital BlueCross has always worked to strengthen the fabric of the communities we serve, and we are pleased to be partnering with WellSpan Health to support the Healthy York Network and the Healthy Community Pharmacy in this worthy effort to provide affordable prescription drugs for thousands of lower income residents."

For the past four years, Healthy Community Pharmacy has been a positive resource for those in need in York who are struggling to pay for medications. Since 2004, the Pharmacy has filled 115,405 discounted prescriptions for members of the Healthy York Network

Prior to moving to its newly designed, larger quarters on August 25, 2008, the Healthy Community Pharmacy was based at 160 Roosevelt Avenue in York, a location not accessible by public transportation and lacking adequate space to meet the needs of the people it served.
