Capital BlueCross Products Receive Excellent National Accreditation

HARRISBURG, Pa., June 23 /PRNewswire/ -- Capital BlueCross product lines received Excellent Accreditation from The National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA). NCQA is an independent, not-for-profit organization dedicated to improving the quality of America's health care.

The company's commercial and Medicare (SeniorBlue) Health Maintenance Organization (HMO) products, issued by Keystone Health Plan Central, and Point of Service (POS) product, issued by Capital Advantage Insurance Company, were all rated in five categories that are often viewed as key indicators of a plan's success:

Access to Service -- How well a health plan provides its members with access to needed care and with good customer services.

Qualified Providers - Ensuring each doctor is licensed and trained to practice medicine and that health plan members are happy with their doctors.

Staying Healthy - Health plan activities that help people maintain good health and avoid illness.

Getting Better - Helping people recover from illness.

Living with Illness - Helping people manage chronic illness.

Within these categories, key clinical strengths that contributed to Capital BlueCross' success include robust case management, disease management and chronic disease preventive reminder programs; targeted outreach wellness initiatives; tightly managed credentialing processes; an extensive provider network; and excellent customer service.
