HARRISBURG, Pa., Dec. 4 /PRNewswire/ -- The Capital BlueCross Medicare Advantage Plan, issued by the company's wholly owned subsidiary Keystone Health Plan Central, was ranked as the No. 1 plan for overall Member Satisfaction in Pennsylvania in a report issued today by the Pennsylvania Health Care Cost Containment Council (PHC4). The Pennsylvania Health Care Cost Containment Council is an independent state agency formed to address rapidly growing health care costs.
The report, Choosing a Medicare Advantage Plan for 2008, uses industry surveys and data to rank Pennsylvania's Medicare Advantage Plans in order to help consumers compare the quality of different plans.
Keystone Health Plan Central was ranked No. 1 among all Medicare Advantage Plans in both "Overall rating of health plan," and "Getting Needed Care Without Delays."
"Convenient access to care is always at the top of the list when consumers choose a health plan," said Anita M. Smith, president & CEO of Capital BlueCross. "We pay close attention to what is important to our members and work hard every day to maintain our position as the top plan for consumers in central Pennsylvania and the Lehigh Valley. This report is a credit to our outstanding employees who work so diligently on behalf of our Medicare members."
In assessing "Getting Needed Care Without Delays," plan members rated how often it was easy to get appointments with a specialist and the care, tests or treatment they thought they needed. "Overall Rating of Health Plan" charts the percentage of members who give their health plan a high score over the past six months.
In addition to receiving the highest score in Member Satisfaction, Keystone Health Plan Central also ranked first or second in the region in several other areas including "Access to Primary Care Doctor Visits," "Breast Cancer Screening," and "Diabetes Care - Eye Exams."
