SOMERSET, N.J., Aug. 19 /PRNewswire/ -- The Tic Tac(R) brand announced today that in partnership with CancerCare(R), it will try to break the Guinness World Record(TM) in Times Square for the most games of Tic Tac Toe played simultaneously for charity. CancerCare is a national nonprofit organization that provides free, professional support services for anyone affected by cancer.
Starting today at 11 a.m. ET, individuals in the Times Square area in New York City are encouraged to stop by ABC Studios on 44th Street and Broadway to become a part of this record-breaking attempt. To establish a Guinness World Record(TM), 500 games must be played concurrently by a total of 1,000 people (two per game). The world record attempt is part of a larger partnership between the Tic Tac(R) brand and CancerCare in an effort to raise awareness of cancer's affect on people with the disease, caregivers, loved ones and the bereaved.

The Tic Tac(R) brand is donating $100,000 to CancerCare as part of its commitment to the cause. In addition to the lump sum donation, the Tic Tac(R) brand will contribute on behalf of consumers who get involved in efforts to spread the message about this important issue. The Tic Tac(R) brand invites consumers to bring the fun home with them by visiting www.tictacusa.com and playing an online version of Tic Tac Toe. For every game played, the Tic Tac(R) brand will donate an additional $1 to CancerCare, up to $5,000.
The event also marks the introduction of the brand's new Melon Mango flavored mints. The newest addition to the iconic line of Tic Tac(R) mints has a refreshing fruit flavor -- a perfect mint for the summertime. Samples of the new mints will be distributed on-site during the world record attempt. Tic Tac(R) mints are available at select drug, grocery, mass merchandiser, warehouse club and convenience stores.
