Date:7/6/2009

Lights, camera, action! To provide support and hope to the 7.3 million Americans affected by infertility, RESOLVE: The National Infertility Association and Fertility LifeLines™, a free patient resource provided by EMD Serono, are holding the first-ever In The Know Short Film Competition.

(PRWEB) July 6, 2009 -- Lights, camera, action! To provide support and hope to the 7.3 million Americans affected by infertility, RESOLVE: The National Infertility Association and Fertility LifeLines™, a free patient resource provided by EMD Serono, are holding the first-ever In The Know Short Film Competition.

WHAT:   Those who have been touched by infertility can enter by submitting a creative, inspirational short film about their path to parenthood (or the journey of someone close to them). Submitted films will be reviewed by a panel of judges, and competition finalists will have their films screened at a festival in New York City this fall where a winner and runners-up will be chosen and awarded prizes. The winner will receive $1,000 and two runners-up will each be given $500. The deadline to submit entries is August 1, 2009.

The In The Know Short Film Competition entry form and complete guidelines are available at www.FertilityLifeLinesfilms.com. Continue to visit this Web site over the next few months for details about the film festival that will be held this fall, which will be broadcasted live, via Web cast nationwide.

WHY:   Anyone who has been touched by infertility knows the emotional and physical burden of trying to conceive. Despite the fact that 1 in 8 couples experience infertility, many people feel isolated and alone in their journey.

"At RESOLVE, we hear so often from women and couples that listening to other people's stories provides them with the motivation and encouragement they need along their path to parenthood. The In The Know Short Film Competition is designed to encourage anyone touched by infertility to share their stories to provide support to others in the midst of their fertility struggle," explains Barbara Collura, Executive Director of RESOLVE and competition judge.

The In The Know Short Film Competition is cosponsored by RESOLVE: The National Infertility Association and by Fertility LifeLines™, a free patient resource provided by EMD Serono, the company that brings you Gonal-f® (follitropin alfa for injection).

EMD Serono is proud to announce that it will be donating up to $1.5 million in product to patients at fertility centers across the country to help couples struggling with infertility.

Important Considerations: Gonal-f® (follitropin alfa for injection) is indicated for use in infertile patients with oligo-anovulation and patients undergoing ART. Gonal-f® should only be prescribed by physicians who are thoroughly familiar with infertility problems and their management. Gonal-f® is a potent gonadotropic substance capable of causing Ovarian Hyperstimulation Syndrome (OHSS) in women with or without pulmonary or vascular complications. Gonal-f® is contraindicated in women who exhibit prior hypersensitivity to recombinant FSH preparations, primary gonadal failure, uncontrolled thyroid or adrenal dysfunction and pregnancy. Women who are nursing should not use Gonal-f®. The most common side effects in patients using Gonal-f® include headache, ovarian cysts, nausea and upper respiratory infections in women and acne, breast pain and growth, and fatigue in men. Injection site reactions were also reported. Reports of multiple births have been associated with Gonal-f treatment. For complete product details, see the full prescribing information at www.FertilityLifeLines.com/serono/index.jsp.
