California Medical Association Names EMPLOYERS(R) Provider of Choice for its 35,000 Physician Members
Date:3/26/2009

RENO, Nev., March 26 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- The California Medical Association (CMA) has officially named EMPLOYERS(R) (NYSE: EIG), America's small business insurance specialist(R), its workers' compensation insurance provider of choice. EMPLOYERS is a specialty writer of workers' compensation insurance for small businesses and has significant experience serving the unique needs of physicians and their practices.

As part of the agreement, CMA's 35,000 physician members are eligible to receive up to a five percent credit on their workers' compensation insurance policies with EMPLOYERS through its subsidiary Employers Compensation Insurance Company. Member physicians can access this valuable member benefit through CMA's designated broker and administrator, Seabury and Smith, Inc. (Marsh), which has exclusive agent access to this CMA sponsored program.

"We are pleased to extend the expertise and added value EMPLOYERS offers its policyholders to our 35,000 members," said Joe Dunn, chief executive officer, California Medical Association. "We chose EMPLOYERS because of its highly competitive rate for physicians and because it is a workers' compensation leader in California. The fact that physicians account for the single largest number of EMPLOYERS' policies written in California made this an easy choice."

"Physicians throughout California are learning that they can gain significant value from their workers' compensation insurance when they purchase it from EMPLOYERS," said Hale Johnston, senior vice president, EMPLOYERS. "Physicians making the choice of a workers' compensation insurance carrier, just like decision-makers in each of the small business categories we serve, realize that their choice of carrier is critical to both their employees and their bottom line."
