California Certifying Board for Medical Assistants Signs Exclusive Contract with Pearson VUE
Date:4/16/2009

BLOOMINGTON, Minn., April 16 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Pearson VUE, the computer-based testing business of Pearson, today announced that it has signed an exclusive agreement with the California Certifying Board for Medical Assistants (CCBMA) to be the exclusive test delivery provider of the California Certified Medical Assistant (CCMA) exam. Effective immediately, CCMA examinations are delivered throughout the secure Pearson VUE-owned and -operated network of Pearson Professional Centers, supplemented in some locations with Pearson VUE's third-party channel of Pearson VUE(R) Authorized Test Centers throughout the state of California.

The CCBMA has administered the CCMA exam since 1990. The exam is one of three recognized by the California Medical Board. While Pearson VUE will administer the computer-based testing, paper and pencil testing will remain available in specific locations with plans to completely switch to computer-based testing in the future.

"We chose Pearson VUE for exam delivery because of its history of providing great service and due to the high quality of its testing center network," said Trish Hesslink, board president. "We are particularly impressed by how quickly Pearson VUE will be able to transition and implement our program. We value that responsiveness in a service provider."

"We strive towards creating the best possible testing experience for candidates and have a tradition of working closely with our clients to develop innovative solutions for their programs," said Robert Whelan, president and chief executive officer of Pearson VUE. "Our team is committed to making the launch of the CCBMA program a success."
