California Casualty Celebrates California’s Teachers of the Year
Date:3/3/2017

California Casualty had the distinct honor to participate in the gala recognizing California’s Teachers of the Year in February. The five finalists were described as “guideposts in charting a new course of excellence.”

Megan Gross, special education instructor at Del Norte High School in San Diego, was named California’s 2017 National Teacher of the Year candidate, and is one of four finalists for 2017 National Teacher of the Year designation.

California Casualty CEO Beau Brown remarked that, “The event is about passion, creativity and excellence. It honors the winners, and it honors so many who don’t get recognized for their commitment and dedication.”

AVP Lisa Almeida, who introduced California Superintendent of Public Instruction Tom Torlakson, was humbled by the sheer strength and tremendous dedication the award winning teachers showed. “What an amazing evening of celebrating America and American Education,” she said.

As the Presenting Sponsor for the third year, California Casualty is helping to make possible these other California School Recognition Programs:

  • California Gold Ribbon Schools – honoring exemplary public schools which demonstrate significant gains in narrowing the achievement gap
  • Classified School Employee of the Year – highlighting those who symbolize the profession’s commitment to education
  • California Green Ribbon School Awards – recognizing schools that accomplish great things in the areas of sustainability and health
  • California Blue Ribbon Schools – acknowledging schools that promote and support the improvement of education

California Casualty is proud to celebrate teachers and education support professionals who make a difference for their students and communities. California Casualty Field representatives will present awards and attend other special recognition ceremonies, enhancing the company’s 65 year commitment to educators.
