LOS ANGELES, April 3 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Don Jones, President of the California Association of Health Underwriters called upon members of the California Congressional Delegation today to join him in demanding that Congress reject efforts to address the urgent need for health care reform in the partisan environment of the budget reconciliation process.
Joining with the National Association of Health Underwriters, the California Association insists that Congress should not use the budget reconciliation process to pass sweeping changes to our nation's health care system. The reconciliation process being considered would limit debate to only 20 hours and restrict the important amendment process necessary to produce the best possible legislation to reform our health care system.
"Reforming our health care system is too important to each and every American to hide the process behind this partisan reconciliation process. We call upon our California Congressional delegation to demand that everyone be heard and that we have the opportunity to get it right, not just get it done."
"The necessary changes to our uniquely American health care system must be both thoughtful and deliberate and should be subject to the full consideration of both parties. The reconciliation process will deny the opportunity for full bipartisan input and the preferable goal of achieving bipartisan support," says Jones.
"We applaud the wisdom shown by Utah Senator Orrin Hatch in calling upon the leadership of both houses to reject the partisan reconciliation process. Limited debate and fast track politics have no place in such an important matter."
